1.Asian College of Journalism, Chennai, Tamil Nadu

The Institute offers two courses, the first being Post-Graduate Diploma in Business and Financial Journalism which is an industry defining a standard for training aspiring and career journalists. This programme would help the students to collect and visualise economic and financial data and information. It helps the student to understand the concept that helps in analysing the economic environment. The programme contains 3 terms. The second is the Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism. It includes an extensive series of lectures and workshops on gathering and presenting news. The students also get various laboratory exercises and outside assignments.

2. M.O.P Vaishnav College for Women, Chennai

It was established in 1992 when Sri Vallabhacharya Vidya Sabha collaborated with Dewan Bahadur M. O. Parthasarathy Iyengar Charities. Both these organisations are committed to the cause of women’s education. The vision of the college is to evolve into a University of International Repute and its Mission Statement states “To provide a unique learning experience which will enable the students to realise their innate potential and mould their overall personality”. Its undergraduate courses in Media School include B.SC Visual Communication, B.SC Electronic Media and B.A Journalism. Its Postgraduate courses, on the other hand, include M.A Communication and M.A Media Management. To enrol in these programmes the candidate may have passed his 12th from any stream.

3. Madras Christian College, Chennai

It was established in 1837 by Rev. John Anderson, a missionary from Scotland and turned into a College in 1865. It was reaccredited with a grade A by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2012.The department of Journalism of this college was established in 2015. This department is self-owned by it. It offers a single course in the form of B.A Journalism which emphasises the fundamental principles of journalism for Electronic and Print Media.

4. University of Madras, Chennai

The University of Madras has a separate department of Journalism and Mass Communication. It has collaborated with various foreign Universities like the Hallym University, South Korea and Aalborg University, Denmark. The department also conducts skill based seminars and workshops every month which focuses on extended class room learning, research and community linkages. The courses offered the university include two Postgraduate courses which are M.A Journalism and Communication, M.SC Online Media. It also includes one M.PHIL course in Journalism & Communication and a certificate course in Journalism.
